Overview

If you think Nepal is just about beautiful mountains, consider wandering into the dense jungle of Chitwan. Spreading across 932 km², Chitwan National Park is home to the one-horned rhinoceros and the Royal Bengal tiger. The Himalaya-fed Narayani and Rapti rivers form a diverse habitat for a wide range of flora and fauna, and Beeshazari Lake ("twenty thousand lake"), a Ramsar site, beautifies the area even more.

The Chitwan Jungle Safari is an exotic trip where you experience a harmonious blend of biodiversity and indigenous Tharu culture. You can enjoy the jungle from a safe distance on an elephant-back ride deep into the forest, where you can spot rhinos, monkeys, deer, peacocks and many other animals.

A jeep safari takes you to the Gharial Crocodile Breeding Centre and the Elephant Breeding Centre, where you can witness the efforts taken to protect the species. If you are an avid nature lover, you can enjoy a jungle walk and bird watching with our nature expert. An early morning canoe ride on the Rapti River allows a close encounter with crocodiles, gharial and many aquatic birds and animals in their natural habitat.

Chitwan is home to the Tharu community, so going around a Tharu village by ox cart or on horseback is another exciting thing to do. The evenings are musical, with cultural performances by Tharu dancers in their colourful dress – and you can dance your heart out too. Book your trip to Chitwan and enjoy the beauty of the plains of Nepal.
