Today we drive from Kathmandu to Beni. This is the place from where our trek starts. The drive should take around 9 to 10 hours and it offers good scenic views, green vegetation, and great land topography and so on. We will reach Beni rest and overnight stay at Beni
Driving times: 2hrs
Trekking time: 5hrs
We will start our trek from Beni. After a short drive from Beni, we will find our trail, the trail is wide and graveled as far as the village of Darbang. We will cross the Mayagdi Khola from a suspension bridge; the path will lead us upwards through rhododendron, pine and oak forest for the next hour. The path leads us to the large village of Dharapani, overnight stay at Dharapani.
Trekking times: 7hrs.
From Dharapani the trail leads us to a ridge where the land flattens out. The trail climbs steeply to the villages of Sabang and Mattim. From here you continue up to descend to the Gatti Khola and reach Phalai Gaon (1,810m). Cross the Dhara Khola and then climb a ridge to the large Magar village of Muri. From here there are views to Ganapathi peak and the whole Dhaulagiri range, overnight stay at Muri.
trekking times: 7 to 8hrs
From Muri, there is a steep descent out of the village. We start crossing a rocky stream that leads to the terraced fields by the banks of the Dhora Khola. The trail then moves through the villages of Ghorban and Gugge. We will then descend through a forest and terraced fields to Boghara (2,080m). Overnight at tented camps.
Trekking times: 6 to 7hrs.
From Bagar the route leads through terraced fields to a small ridge and forest. The small village of Jyardan is the most remote permanent settlement on our trail. A high winding path crosses a rocky area which then descends before climbing again to Lipshe where there is one single hut. We will move onwards through the forest to Lapche Kharka and then to the level area known as Dovan.
Trekking times: 6 to 7hrs.
Today we cross a wooden bridge out of Dobang then ascend through a forested area. After some walk the west face of Dhaulagiri I (8,167m) becomes visible. Now descend to the Myagdi Khola and cross a wooden bridge. We will have our overnight at tented camps.
Trekking time: 4 to 5hrs.
There are beautiful forest passing on the trail and you have to meet more altitude changes today. At various points, small, ill-constructed bridges and jungle make the way difficult. Therefore the walk demands agility and care. After a certain walk, we will reach an open field at the Italian Base Camp and two small tea huts. We can have some breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri range, including Dhaulagiri II, and Ganapathi peak from here.
Today we will take some rest because big and challenging days are ahead. Have some general view around the area and acclimatize to the thinning of the air.
trekking times: 5 to 6hrs.
Today will be a very big day for us. The area is very risky, rock falls and avalanches could occur anytime so we should carry a rope for early prevention to minimize risks. The trail is very rocky and steep one should climb up the mountainside, cross one glacier and then descending onto another. A climb on the opposite side of the glacier leads to a wide, grassy area in the shallow valley of Pakhaban, also known as Japanese/Advance Base Camp. This campsite offers you with impressive views of Dhaulagiri I and the huge stone walls of Tsaurabong Peak.
trekking times: 5 to 6hrs.
Today we will have a difficult day of glacier hiking. After a certain walk over the lateral moraine and glacier, you can look up at the impressive north face of Dhaulagiri I (8,167m) Dhaulagiri II (7,751m), Dhaulagiri III (7,715m) and Dhaulagiri V (7,618m)
Trekking times: 6 to 7 hrs.
You will have to walk through the glacier and lateral moraine which might need rope sometimes. After the certain walk, you will reach and climb through slopes of French Pass (5,360m). From here you can have a view of Mukut Himal (6,328m), Tashi Kang (6,386m) and Sita Chuchura (6,611m), all of which surround the Hidden Valley). To the south is Tukche Peak (6,920 meters) and beyond is the massive peak of Dhaulagiri I. We will move towards the right edge of the Hidden valley losing a little altitude to the Thapa Pass (5,250m). Then we will reach the hidden valley overnight at tented camps.
Trekking times: 7 to 8hrs.
After crossing Thapa Pass (5,200m), we will descend from Hidden Valley to the Dhampus Pass and continue to Yak Kharka. You can view some of the great mountains and the vegetation as well on the way.
Trekking times: 4hrs.
The steep and rocky descents will lead to Marpha. The trail is barren and has no tree coverage. On the way, you can see yak and sheep herds. Marpha is a small town consisting of Buddhist and Hindu people. This place consists of the monastery with its prayer flags fluttering in the mountain winds and a hot shower. This is the end of our camping; tea-house accommodation now you can enjoy in a guest house/hotel.
Today you can view places and we will start our drive from Marpha to Tatopani. It will take some 5 to 6 hours to reach Tatopani. There’s a natural hot spring where you can enjoy and rest.
