The following equipment lists are suggested and essential for both camping & teahouse treks in the Himalayas. Given this list as a guideline, most of the trekking equipment can be hired or bought in many adventure shops in Kathmandu as well. The majority of gear is locally manufactured (hence a lot cheaper) although it is becoming more common for gear to be imported from China and therefore of better quality.

Last September I’ve been in Nepal with my friends Jolanda and Jannie. Jolanda discovered the Himalayan mountains already some years ago and she was very enthusiastic about her tour with Raj Kumar and his company Malung Treks & Expedition. Because of her positive experiences, we choose for Raj and his team again. We booked the 12 days Annapurna Basecamp (ABC) trekking. It was possible to make some changes and extensions in the program. We appreciated this flexibility and the personal attention of Raj during the trip. Raj was our guide and we had two attentive and friendly carriers. Everything was well arranged. We didn’t have to worry about anything. So we had a very relaxing holiday. Maybe I will come back to Nepal to show my husband the amazing nature and culture of Nepal. There’s no doubt about the company. I will choose Malung Treks & Expedition again, because of the professional and personal approach of Raj Kumar. He is a good guy to his family, his team, his customers and the Nepalese population.
