    The Langtang valley, known as “the valley of glaciers” offers an abundance of wildlife, extremely rich culture and ancient lifestyles. This combines with picturesque scenery such as pine forests, swift mountain streams, rugged rocks and mountains rising toward the sky.

    During this trek, you will discover the history of Tibetan ancestry and their way of living off agriculture and trade. The trail is newly developed leaving traditions virtually untouched.     Day one:

    Arrival in Kathmandu-representatives from Malung Treks will be at the airport to give you a warm Nepali welcome and transfer to your hotel.

    Day two:Kathmandu to Syabrubesi(1503m), driving time-6 to 7 hrs

    Day three:

    Syabrbesi to Gatlang (2238m), trekking time-6 to 7 hrs

    Day four:

    Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m), trekking time-5 to 6 hrs

    Day five:

    Tatopani to Thuman(2338m),trekking time-6 to 7 hrs

    Day six:

    Thuman to Briddhim (2229m), trekking time-5 to 6 hrs

    Day seven:

    Briddhim to Syabrubesi (1503m), trekking time- 4 to 5 hrs

    day eight:

    Syabrubesi to Kathmandu (1300m), driving time-6 to 7 hrs

    • Day 1 Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1460m)

      Driving time: 8 to 9 hours

      During the drive along the foot of the mountains you will see the change to a Tibetan-like, remote landscape. Here, the people were originally Mongols who came from Tibet many years ago and have now settled in Nepal. From Syabrubesi village, there are many directions with which to cross the border of Nepal. This allows people to trek to famous destinations. You can explore around the village before settling for the night

    • Day 2 Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2240m)

      Trekking time: 5 hrs

      You will start by following the trail around the valley and ascending up to a beautiful view point of the Ganesh Himal. As you walk through the valley of Gatlang, you will pass a lake and an apple farm. When you arrive in the village of Gatlang you can refresh yourself, enjoy the friendly Buddhists, and the local Syabru dances. Here you will stay overnight.

    • Day 3 Gatlang to Tatopani (2240m) Hot Springs

      Trekking time: 6 to 7 hrs

      This is the hardest day on the whole journey. The way is long and steady. You follow the Bhotekoshi River, passing many villages along the way, then continue ascending until you arrive in Tatopani. Here, you can relax in the natural hot springs with local people that traditionally do the same. Enjoy a good meal before resting for the night.

    • Day 4 Tatopani to Nagthali / Thuman (2000m)

      Trekking time: 6 hrs

      If you like, you can have another soak in the hot springs before you head to Nagthali. The beginning of the path climbs to an enjoyable view of Nagthali Danda (3300m), surrounded by open grasslands and views of snow capped peaks. After a lunch break in Nagthali you can choose to stay and explore more of the area or move on to Thuman to spend the night. Thuman is a fairly big village with traditional Tibetan influences. The ancient Monasteries and woodcarvings are unforgettable.

    • Day 5 Thuman to Rasuwagadi (2240m)

      Trekking time: 3 to 4 hrs

      The way to Rasuwagadi is a challenging hike. You will pass many villages along the Tibet trading track. Timure, the biggest village, is a restricted area and has a checkpoint. Here, you will have to present your group permit. You will then continue on to Rasuwagadi which lies by the river. Here is the border between Nepal and Tibet. Enjoy the water flow and an overnight stay.

    • Day 6 Rasuwagadi to Briddim (2290m)

      Trekking time: 3 to 4 hrs

      The trail to Briddim is vibrant with rhododendron forests in the springtime. The path also leads through the jungle and passes more Tibetan influenced villages. In Briddim, a home stay is a unique experience. Each family provides clean bedding, a toilet and dining area. You have an opportunity to live with the family and eat traditional foods such as plain rice, Tibetan bread, Syakpa (stew), tea and wine. You can take part in cultural practices and enjoy village walks with the family. Also, you will have the opportunity to gather in traditional costumes and share a song and dance.

    • Day 7 Briddim to Syabrubesi (1460m)

      Trekking time: 3 to 4 hours

      The trail starts with an easy descent to Syabrubesi. The way is surrounded by fine views of mountains. Here, you can enjoy lunch and a stay overnight.

Equipment List

The following equipment lists are suggested and essential for both camping & teahouse treks in the Himalayas. Given this list as a guideline, most of the trekking equipment can be hired or bought in many adventure shops in Kathmandu as well. Besides, keep in mind that trekking gear can be bought in  many adventure shops in Kathmandu, the majority of gear is locally manufactured (hence a lot cheaper) although it is becoming more common for gear to be imported from China and therefore of better quality.
